We predicted a stranding for the southern end of Australia for around 20 September 2010.

But now it looks like we missed the surface currents. More then likely this pod was injured by the Mag 5.0 seaquake on 25 Aug 2010 at 49.500S x 117.366E along the WESTERN INDIAN-ANTARCTIC RIDGE.
The surface currents shifted and carried these whales past Tasmania and on to North Island.
